Vision

Our mission at the 18 Inch Journey Camp is to create a safe, intentional environment for you to encounter the love of God and learn how to connect with Him in your everyday life. Hosted by the Cageless Birds, our camps are full of fun, learning, friendship, worship, and creativity! Our dream is that all of our campers discover God’s delight over them.

We recognize that as a teenager, you need to know the God that meets you where you’re at. He has capacity for what you’re going through! We want to teach you how to find and stay connected to God in the big and little moments of your life. Our camps are a deep dive into learning what it means to be a child of a loving Father. Each day's schedule is intentionally designed for you to pursue the heart of God. These six days are carved out for you to learn new rhythms to fall deeper in love with Jesus and discover your true identity in Him.

This camp is set apart for:

◦ encountering the love of God in powerful times of worship

◦ learning the truth of who God says you are

◦ building friendships with other youth your age

◦ learning to be honest with God about the good and hard things that happen in life

◦ enjoying outdoor games and creative activities

◦ taking creative risks in a safe environment

◦ sharing home-cooked meals around the table

◦ experiencing celebration, teaching, and encouragement from our staff

A Place For the Heart

Lodging and Meals

Our Lowerclassmen High School Camp is held on our beautiful 52 acre campus: A Place for the Heart. This land is set apart for coming away from the noise of the world and hearing the voice of the Father. This is where we host the 18 Inch Journey and where the Cageless Birds live and work year-round. Our campus includes a farmhouse for cooking and meals, creative studios for leather, pottery, coffee roasting, and music, an art & worship barn, cabins nestled under the trees, a dance & fitness studio, and more. Our grounds were made to be a resting place where communion with God, creative inspiration, and belonging around the table are everyday rhythms.

You will be staying in beautiful cabins and bunkhouses that hold many amazing memories from our past schools and camps. Our cabins each have a ground floor and a loft with a bathroom located inside. Our bunkhouses each have two rooms and there is a short walk to the bathrooms located in the adjacent cafe. All linens, with the exception of towels, will be provided in your cabin or bunkhouse. As a community, we have a high value for gathering around the table. All meals and snacks will be provided and home-cooked by our kitchen staff!

Cell Phone Policy

Our camp is designed to help our campers connect with their own heart, God’s heart, and the people they will meet here at camp. In order to make that possible, this is an electronic device free camp. We ask that our campers either leave their phones at home or check them into the office with our admin team upon arrival at camp. To help accommodate any pressing communication needs, we provide parents with the cell phone numbers of our Camp Director and our Camp Administrator who will be available to answer calls. Upon acceptance, all campers must complete a Cell Phone Policy Consent form.

Cancellation Policy

Upon acceptance, you will receive information regarding paying the $650 tuition cost for camp.  All tuition must be paid by May 10th, 2024. You may cancel your registration to receive a refund any time before May 10th, excluding a 10% non-refundable tuition processing fee. In the event that you cancel your registration after May 10th, you will forfeit 50% of the entire registration fee. Any cancellations made within the 7 days prior to the start of camp will result in non-refundable tuition, and the entirety of your tuition payment will not be reimbursed. Regardless of when you cancel your registration, your registration is not transferable to another event, date, or person.

Application Process

It's our desire to get to know you and why you want to attend our camp through an application and short video. We are not looking for perfect answers or amazing videos—just campers who want to fall in love with Jesus and are ready to learn new things.

Parents and guardians, there is a portion of the application that is required for you to fill out. Please plan to complete this application alongside of your camper(s).

Our desire is to make space for as many campers to attend camp as possible. However, due to a limited number of spaces on our campus, we can only receive a certain number of applications to process for each camp.  Our system no longer accepts applications once our capacity has been reached. This means that even if you have an application in process, there’s a chance that you will not be able to submit it if our capacity is full. Upon being accepted, you will receive an email including the payment method, packing list, medical form, cell phone policy consent form, and parental release form. The completion of these forms are required for camp.

Applications have closed for 2024.
